What Our Girls Say

Year 11, Junior Leadership Team

Being a member of the Junior Leadership Team is such a huge honour for me. It reflects the incredible journey I've had from Year 7 to now, as Assistant Head Girl in Year 11. If I had asked my Year 7 self whether I could ever take on such a significant leadership role, I would have said no. However, thanks to the support of my friends and teachers, I've gained confidence and found my voice.

When I first walked through the doors of Ricards Lodge in Year 7, I had no idea what to expect. Everything felt so new and overwhelming — the long, narrow corridors and the big, intimidating Year 11 students. I couldn’t find my way around the school, and I didn’t know who to talk to or where to go for lunch and break. But over time, things began to get easier. I made new friends, found my place, and started to build my confidence. I realised that everyone else was just as nervous as I was, and we were all navigating this new experience together.

As I moved into Year 8 and then Years 9 and 10, I started to understand the importance of responsibility and leadership. I took on roles that challenged me, from participating in school projects to being elected as Sports Rep five times. I even dedicated time after school to help host tournaments. Through these experiences, I learnt that leadership isn’t about knowing everything or relying solely on your own ideas — it’s about being a good listener and working collaboratively with others.

Now, in Year 11, being a member of the JLT is a privilege that comes with great responsibility. I’ve realised that leadership isn’t just about holding a title — it’s about ensuring everyone’s voice is heard, being a role model, and supporting your peers. I am proud to represent my school and strive to make a positive impact every day.
