What Our Girls Say
Dhavianna
Year 11, Head Girl
I was excited to start at Ricards Lodge, but I struggled at first to adjust to the new environment and expectations. The school helped me to develop my independence and creativity, and I am very grateful for the support I received.
By the time I was in Year 8, I had developed into a person who felt comfortable expressing myself without fear of judgement. I also joined a number of new groups, including the basketball club. I initially joined the club out of curiosity, but I am grateful for the lessons it taught me about responsibility, creativity, and resilience.
I am glad that I overcame my initial hesitation and joined the club, as I remained a member even when my friends left. With the help of my BTEC sports teacher and the club's organiser, I was able to step outside my comfort zone and participate in Basketball trials and tournaments outside of school.
As I progressed, I developed a significant interest in leadership positions, particularly in sports, where I took on the role of Sports Leader. In this role, I assisted with athletic events for younger years, such as interform and sports days. I learnt from these experiences that I enjoy working with younger people and assuming a role that requires me to be a role model for them.
I am extremely grateful for all my achievements and thankful for my form tutor, and my PE teachers as their support and their constant encouragement to work harder and have faith in myself has pushed me into a range of amazing opportunities like this one. I'm so blessed and honoured to be a part of this wonderful community, and I'm looking forward to using the ideas my team and I are developing to improve our school. I'm hoping we can go above and beyond!
